Swab on Paper 2017

The curated programme Swab on Paper presents different artworks with a common material: “Paper is a thin material produced by pressing together moist fibres of cellulose pulp derived from wood, rags or grasses, and drying them into flexible sheets. It is a versatile material with many uses, including writing, printing, packaging, cleaning, and a number of industrial and construction processes”

Special features are what define this media: Paper has simplified and facilitated communication, generating at the same time multiple languages. This need for a media has simplified the message, transforming paper into an icon itself, and creating papers which have a meaning and a function depending on their colour. Paper has evolved ever since, from a daily use for writing and drawing to an increasing simplification and conceptualization, in which the material can be a message itself.
