Tió, Bring Us Art! Ask for Emerging Talent and Community Action this Holidays.
The Swab Barcelona Foundation develops initiatives that intertwine support for emerging art with community social action. Through its Swab Friends program, individuals and organizations have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new talent, directly financing the participation of emerging galleries and artistic projects connected to the community and the local territory.
One of these programs is MYFAF (My First Art Fair), a section that offers new galleries their first opportunity to showcase at an international art fair. Thanks to program sponsorship, these galleries receive a free booth, enabling innovative and culturally valuable presentations. During the last edition, three galleries (Studio/Chapple, London; Plato, Évora; Tube, Palma de Mallorca) made their debut at Swab Barcelona thanks to the generous contributions of the Swab Friends program.
Additionally, through the Swab Barcelona Foundation and with the support of Swab Friends Romero Polo and Piramidón, the last edition featured the Perhutana project by Jatiwangi Art Factory (JaF). JaF is a community that integrates contemporary arts and cultural practices into the discourse of local life in the rural environment of Java Island. Perhutana involves reclaiming a large area of land intended for industrial development to create a sacred, collectively owned forest conservation space.
This holiday season, we invite you to join Perhutana and become part of the Swab Friends movement, transforming every contribution into a platform for new galleries and impactful community projects. BE PART OF PERHUTANA
PERHUTANA is part of the Kota Terakota initiative to reclaim 8 hectares of land and transform it into sacred (conservatory) land. This land will later be collectively managed and owned by those participating in future investment transactions focused on the most basic human need: oxygen.
PERHUTANA offers land lots with the goal of collectively growing a forest, providing stakeholders with three key benefits:
-Ownership of a 4×4 m² land lot, which will later be donated to the Sacred (Conservatory) Forest.
-An exclusive certificate designed and crafted by JaF artist Aldizar Ahmad for Swab Barcelona.
-A digital certificate.
Once all land lots are sold and planted, PERHUTANA will be officially registered with the Ministry of Forests as an indigenous forest for the people of the Majalengka region.
