SWAB talks with… Andrea Motis

“I am art. I am Barcelona. I am Swab ” is a series of interviews with relevant people of the Barcelona creative environment, whose aim is to enhance the cultural network of the city.

Today we speak with Andrea Motis, Spanish trumpeter, saxophonist and jazz singer.

I am Andrea Motis. I am art. I am Barcelona. I am Swab.

A word that describes Barcelona?
Urban.

Is your place of creation, the studio, inspired by your city?
My place of study is in any case an oasis in the city that rather evades me and concentrates me in the musical world itself, but what inspires me the most is looking out the window and above all to walk around the city, both at night and during the day.

If Barcelona was an art work, what would you name it?
Barcelona.

A place in the city that connects you with art?
Plaça reial.

A message to young creatives?
Nowadays you can learn a lot from home. No one can do the work for you. It is important and useful to “connect” with other artists in your sector to come up with new ideas or to carry out your own stories.
