“I am art. I am Barcelona. I am Swab” is a series of interviews with relevant people of the Barcelona creative environment, whose aim is to enhance the cultural network of the city.
Today we speak with Nacho Alegre, photographer, publicist and creative director of Apartamento Magazine.
I am Nacho Alegre. I am art. I am Barcelona. I am Swab.
A word that describes Barcelona?
Tragic
Is your place of creation, the studio, inspired by your city?
Yes, and I also try to fill it with objects that remind me of Barcelona.
If Barcelona was an art work, what would you name it?
The Gatopardo
A place in the city that connects you with art?
The Raval at night still makes you believe you live in an exciting city.
A message to young creatives?
Barcelona is not a priori the ideal city to create; it is small, it is peripheral, there is no market, we are not very connected… creatively we are a village. But this also has its advantages and those who haven’t left yet have to learn to enjoy them. Nowadays it doesn’t matter where you live, but enjoy where you live.
