Swab Barcelona is a contemporary art fair and a key meeting point for the promotion and dissemination of emerging art. Our commitment is to create a space for dialogue and exhibition that highlights new artistic proposals, fostering their access and visibility within the global cultural ecosystem.
With this mission, we have created the Swab Barcelona Foundation, through which we develop initiatives that amplify new voices and explore more sustainable artistic horizons. We believe in art as a common good with social and community impact, and we work actively to strengthen its presence in society. One of the fundamental pillars of our work is supporting young galleries in their process of internationalization. To encourage new voices and spaces to present solid and innovative proposals, we have created MyFAF (My First Art Fair), which grants three scholarships in the form of free stands. Through this program, we provide an entry point for new galleries to access the global circuit, establishing key relationships at this stage.
Another initiative of the Swab Foundation is Video Box, a space dedicated to experimentation with this medium, focusing on its formal and aesthetic qualities. Each year, the program explores a specific territory in depth through collaboration with local curators. In previous years, Video Box has focused on Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and El Salvador.
In parallel, we develop projects with social impact -which has been the case of Perhutana in the last edition-, aimed at raising awareness of new artistic practices from an inclusive and community perspective. Through these initiatives, we foster dialogue on art as a tool for transformation and its ability to address current issues with a critical and committed outlook.
Through these actions, Swab Barcelona strengthens its commitment to the democratization of art, offering opportunities to young creators and promoting their integration into the international scene. Our work aims to highlight emerging talent and consolidate a space for innovation and critical thinking within the cultural sphere.
