SWAB BARCELONA PRESENTS ITS COMMITTEE MEMBERS
From September 27 to 30, the art fair will show the latest trends from 70 galleries and spaces. More than 300 artists from around the world will exhibit their work
Swab Barcelona Art Fair will celebrate its 11th edition on September 27, 28, 29 and 30. After celebrating its 10th anniversary, it has established itself as a relevant and experienced international art fair. In 2018, it will show the work of outstanding artists and galleries, along with the most emblematic emergent proposals, which has historically been its purpose.
For this new edition, Swab has invited 70 international galleries that together represent 300 artists. It has expanded its program and maintained its commitment to curated programs. This year’s selection committee is formed by collectors Harold Berg (Economist and Member of the Photography Committee of the Whitney Museum of American Art),Giuseppe Casarotto, (Engineer and President of Bergamo’s ClubGAMeC), and Alfredo Hertzog, (President of Hertzog Art Business) along with Domenico de Chirico, independent curator, Danny Baez, independent curator as well as director of MECA International Air Fair in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Irene Campolmi, independent curator and art researcher.
ALFREDO HERZOG
Alfredo Herzog, art collector and business administrator. He's President of Hertzog Art Business since October 2013. He lives between São Paulo and Miami. Graduated from Getúlio Vargas Foundation (GV), with an MBA from Claremont University, and studies in Art Business at the Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York. His collection is specialized in video art, and in 2007, it gathered 700 works.
DANNY BAEZ
Danny Baez is a Cultural Curator originally from Quisqueya (Dominican Republic) and now living and working in the greater New York Area. A former student of Advertising at UNAPEC and Printmaker at LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies (Columbia University), Mr. Baez has been dedicated to the Art business for the past 10 years under the tutelage of renowned Thai Contemporary artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, and in New York via NY Art Dealer Gavin Brown, serving as a Studio/Project assistant for the former and currently as an external affairs assistant for the latter.
Over the past four years, Mr. Baez has also represented Gavin Brown’s Enterprise at multiple art fairs around South and North America as a Sales Associate with emphasis on the Latin American Market, allowing him to create an extended network within the demanding and competitive art world while connecting different artists with collectors, galleries and projects.
Danny Baez is also the Co-Founder and Director of MECA International Art Fair in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Co-Founder and Board Member of the ARTNOIR Collective in New York City and Executive Chair of the Young Collectors Board at El Museo del Barrio.
DOMENICO DE CHIRICO
Independent curator and art editor Domenico de Chirico, born in Bari in 1983, lives and works in Milan. From 2011 until 2015 he taught courses in Visual Culture and Trend Research at Milan’s European Institute of Design (IED). He collaborates with numerous international galleries, artists and magazines worldwide.
Since 2016 he has been appointed artistic director of DAMA Fair, Turin. He is also visiting tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London (2018).
GIUSEPPE CASAROTTO
Giuseppe Casarotto, collector and engineer from Bergamo Italy. Chairman of ClubGAMEC, a cultural association that promotes and supports Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo, Italy.
Casarotto is co-founder, together with six other private collectors, of a collection of active video art which focuses on the acquisition of video art’s works and the promotion of young video artists.
HAROLD BERG
Harold Berg, collector and economist based in Barcelona. Berg is a member of the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Photography Committee and a collaborator at MACBA.
Passionate about the American artist Gordon Matta-Clark, his interests in art center on the 60s and 70s, particularly on artists who worked with limited resources and readdressed the status quo.
IRENE CAMPOLMI
Irene Campolmi is a Copenhagen-based curator, currently working on exhibitions that explore notions such as ecology, ethics, postcolonialism, queerism and feminism. She is working on upcoming institutional shows for 2018/ 2019, including “Re-Routing Nature” at SixtyEight Art Institute (Copenhagen) and “#whatif” at Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), among others. She has curated the artistic program “Art Reacts” of the Code Art Fair in Copenhagen in 2017.
Irene is also completing her PhD on contemporary curatorial practice at the University of Aarhus with a thesis that explores the entanglement between ethics and research in curating. She has co-organised and coordinated the international symposium “Between the DISCURSIVE and the IMMERSIVE” at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Denmark). Irene has worked as a researcher for the Max Planck Institute- Kunsthistorisches Institute in Florence, and as an assistant curator for the Italian Embassy in Copenhagen and the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome
