SWAB 2022 CURATOR TALKS
by GISELA CHILLIDA

Tell us your favorite moment at Swab 2021
My favourite moments were definitely the four performances… Maybe it’s wrong to say it because I’m the curator, but I very much enjoyed them, it was a real pleasure to work with Laura Llaneli, Gino Rubert, Violeta Mayoral and Mariona Moncunill…

What’s something you discovered at Swab 2021 that really sticked to your mind?
I loved the work of Helena Vinent, Paco Chanivet, Marc Herrero, Joan Pallé and Alán Carrasco.

What’s something you discovered at Swab 2021 that really sticked to your mind?
The most interesting thing about Swab is its “human” dimensions, the small scale allows you to stop and spend time at each stand without that “FOMO” that forces a frenetic pace. It’s a luxury to be able to stroll around the fair and find international artists you didn’t know before. And, what’s more, at prices that allow you to take them home with you.

How would you describe Swab 2021 to someone who couldn’t visit it?
I would tell them not to miss it next year 🙂

What projects are keeping you busy these days that swabbers should stay tuned for?
Luckily, there are several projects keeping me busy these days. As well as coordinating all the projects of the cultural platform Hänsel* i Gretel* (stay tuned, you’ll soon be able to listen to a series of podcasts we’ve been recording for months with artists as important as Joan Fontcuberta and Ignasi Aballí), I’m curating, together with Roc Parés, a major solo exhibition by Gino Rubert at the Tecla Sala Art Centre. I’m also particularly excited to present the second edition of Glutamato, a personal project that seeks to “promote”, hence its name, projects by artists with whom I share space in the space for creation and thought FASE. This time it will be with Ricardo Cárdenas.
