Crisol.

Is your place of creation, the studio, inspired by your city?

Yes, because it looks at an inner courtyard full of typical city vegetation. It is a very open space with the old architecture of 1866.

If Barcelona was an art work, what would you name it?

In general, ‘City Scenes’. Now, unfortunately, ‘Empty’.

A place in the city that connects you with art?

The entire Born area: its architecture, small workshops and shops.

A message to young creatives?

Believing in inter-relational thinking, feeding the mind with all kinds of sources of knowledge… you never know where inspiration comes from, but you have to be willing to link concepts, ways of thinking and seeing the world.

Family.

A place in the city that connects you with art?

The Plaça de Prim and the streets around it. It’s like being able to teleport to the beauty of the last century; it makes me think of my grandfather and the life he had.

A message to young creatives?

Dare to throw your work into the world as if they were throwing stones into the sea. 

Swab presents MYFAF

Swab Barcelona 2020 presents its youngest section, My First Art Fair, a program that grants the participation of four emerging galleries that, with less than two years of experience, have not yet participated in any international contemporary art fair.

Swab proposes this initiative as a way of introducing these projects to the international fair circuit and offering them a first experience of the field.

The Barcelona cable car towers.

A message to young creatives?

Learn from your mistakes, accidents and disasters, rather than from your achievements and awards.

Any empty factory building where things can happen.

Yes, in Palo Alto the little birds sing, the bougainvilleas bloom. I feel very lucky, I ride my bike home from the studio watching the sea.

The Sea and the Mountain with Diagonal.

The port seen from Montjuïc.

Sant Jordi by Fundación Ernesto Ventós

Sant Jordi is approaching, one of the most special dates of the spring, and even if it’s quarantined in our homes, we do not want to stop celebrating it. The Ernesto Ventós Foundation proposes a workshop to be held with our families, an activity that pays homage to this day and establishes sensitive relationships between taste, smell, shape and colour. 

The activity consists of creating our own roses with the skin of different citrus fruits, and you will only need the following materials:

– An orange, a lemon or a grapefruit.
– A knife or cutter
– A stick or support to make the stem of the rose.
– Clothing pins

Is your place of creation, the studio, inspired by your city?

Yes, Barcelona, the great city near Girona, inspires me because of its cosmopolitan and multicultural character, its markets, its cultural and artistic offerings… 

If Barcelona was an art work, what would you name it?

“El Somni”, in reference to a gastronomic opera that we performed at the Arts Santa Monica Theatre in May 2013, combining different disciplines and paying tribute to Barcelona. 

A place in the city that connects you with art?

The architecture of Gaudí.

A message to young creatives?

I would tell them to seek happiness in what they do, success is precisely this.
