EXHIBITORS
general
Swab presents a new General Program in response to the current dynamics of contemporary art. What were previously differentiated spaces at the fair — General, Emerging, Seed — is now articulated into a single integrated program. This reconfiguration responds to a broader change: the boundaries between galleries and independent initiatives are increasingly blurred, and practices that were once considered peripheral are now taking a central place.
Artist-run spaces, emerging galleries, and experimental initiatives continue to operate on the margins of the market, but they are setting the pace of discourse, taking risks, and proposing new models of sustainability.
In this new format, all participants will share a common space, with booths adaptable to different formats and needs, reflecting the art market we want to help build: a more plural market, where different scales and modes of operation coexist, and where the most independent initiatives maintain direct dialogue with the commercial circuit.

FOCUS POLAR AND TROPIC
The tropics are those imaginary lines over which the sun, positioned at the zenith, pauses after completing a cycle to take a new direction. Humanity seems to be going through a similar moment, a state of solstice, and those structures, organic and artificial, that sustained the dominant form of civilization, cease to be useful, while from the margins others have already begun to appear and organize themselves.
It is also a time of extreme polarity, a property that divides the human, constructing the identity of subjects by opposition, but it represents the most basic form of attraction: it is the opposite poles that generate movement and impulse, uniting particles and allowing the flow of current.
Observing these phenomena, Polar and Tropic proposes a meeting between spaces that come from opposite extremes, the Nordic region and Southeast Asia, where vast ecosystems are sustained by networks of collaboration and solidarity. After a period that prioritizes the autonomy of the self and projects the state of balance based on radical individual interest, the practices emerging from these projects propose a new model, expanding the space for art and exploring other ways to establish relationships, create networks, and build common spaces.
The program brings together twelve projects through exhibitions organized around an agora, which hosts an extensive public program. Curated by Tenthaus, Bunga Siagian, and Jatiwangi Art Factory (JAF), it will feature a video project, a shared editorial space, a radio and listening station, and an area dedicated to dialogue and casual interaction, inspired by the Indonesian practice of nongkrong and the communal spirit of the sauna — meeting points that, although originating in geographically distant contexts, in POLAR AND TROPIC dialogue and coexist, revealing affinities in the construction of the commons.
The guiding question of this encounter is how to expand the network, and how to make it sustainable. How to continue? How to generate lasting structures of mutual support and collaboration, capable of sustaining possible futures?

SOLO SHOW
SOLO 2025 proposes a collaboration network among independent European projects, articulated around the solo show format as a unit of collaboration. A single voice can also be a plural voice: that of the collective, the self-managed space, the shared authorship. At this intersection between the individual and the common, the program finds its place.
At a moment of crisis in this relationship, marked by tensions between the hegemony of late-capitalist individualism and the growing search for social reconstruction, the program reflects on how the personal and the common can dialogue and mutually enrich each other within the artistic field.
The goal of SOLO is to promote co-production and collaborative practice through exhibitions that can take the form of an individual show or a proposal built from a shared perspective, generating a collective experience that reflects the diversity of languages and modes of operation present in the independent scene.
The proposal aims to generate lasting ties that enable the co-production of exhibition projects, strengthening both the sustainability of the participating spaces and the creation of new circuits for the circulation of independent art.
The project is supported by the Fundació Vila Casas, which acts as a strategic collaborating entity.

VORTEX
Vortex unfolds from the Emerging Latam program, which over recent years has made visible emerging voices from Latin America at Swab. In this new phase, the project expands its reach towards a dialogue between young local projects and those from Latin America, intending to build new bridges between these two territories whose cultural landscapes have mutually shaped each other, sharing a back-and-forth of resonances, influences, and reinventions.
Co-curated by Santiago Gasquet, who has been responsible for the program during the last five editions, and Lena Solà Nogué, a Barcelona-based curator residing in Mexico who joins the project this year, Vortex proposes a shared occupation model: six spaces at the fair will be cohabited by twelve young galleries, six from each region.
This space becomes a meeting point for artists whose interests and lives circulate between here and Latin America, facilitating the creation of cultural networks that allow sharing of resources, issues, and strategies, contributing to strengthening concrete links between both scenes.

MYFAF
Swab Barcelona continues strengthening its commitment to newly established spaces through the My First Art Fair (MyFAF) program, supported by the Swab Barcelona Foundation. An essential part of the fair’s identity, MyFAF is the section that groups and promotes galleries with less than two years of experience and exhibiting for the first time at an international fair. Each edition, three spaces are awarded grants, providing them with a unique opportunity to enter the circuit.
The central objective of the Fundación Swab in launching these grants is to discover and promote new talents, facilitating the entry of innovative projects into the dynamic realm of international art fairs. This initiative reinforces Swab’s mission to serve as a melting pot of new ideas and trends while emphasizing its role as a launch platform for emerging artistic voices.
