Tramo is a gallery focused on contemporary art, located on the first floor of a residential building on the historic Alvear Avenue in Buenos Aires. Initially called Smart Gallery, it represents since 2018 a selection of mid-career and advanced Argentine artists, who are in an active search for their own languages. It proposes a schedule of four annual exhibitions in the framework of which activities are carried out in conjunction with different companies and other innovative projects, as well as participation in international fairs.

For this edition of SWAB, we will present two Argentine artists living in Spain: Valeria Maculan and Nicolás Romero Escalada. In the case of Nicolás, through his works he investigates the different ways of reinterpreting social ceremonies. He establishes informal anthropological connections that account for the heterogeneous ways of looking at death: the Western gaze constructed from Europe and also the Latin American gaze on the subject. Valeria Maculan’s works deal with the limits of the pictorial plane and its use as a means to question the ways in which a body can be expressed physically, psychologically and socially. She explores symbolic forms to create a non-verbal language using different materials. His quest is to communicate the inexpressible: the intuitive and irrational element of human experience and relationships.
