Siddiq Project’s presentation at this year’s edition of Swab will feature large-scale paintings by Taiwanese artist ChiaoHan Chueh and sculptures by London-based Colombian artist Sofía Serpa Arango. Juxtaposing Chueh’s and Serpa Arango’s two bodies of work creates a storyline that draws from the contained chaos in Serpa Arango’s woodcuts and into the instinct driven, surreal sceneries of Chueh’s paintings. The selection of works features storylines that were developed individually by both artists, yet interconnect in their ability to express a certain form of raw and conflicting experiences of survival, or as Chueh calls it, the experience of a “Bacchanalian frenzy“.
