REINERS CONTEMPORARY ART
Marbella
general PROGRAM
Founded in Marbella, southern Spain, in 2019, Reiners Contemporary Art has been committed from its inception to promoting contemporary art, with a particular focus on outstanding artists from Brazil, Germany, and Afro-descendants. Directed by its Brazilian-born founder, Flor Reiners, the gallery’s programming is divided between a dynamic exhibition schedule and participation in international art fairs, ensuring the exposure of artists in the European market and international institutions. In 2024, coinciding with its fifth anniversary, the gallery inaugurates a new venue in Marbella. Located on an estate surrounded by greenery, the new gallery space is conceived as an environment dedicated to the development of artists and the promotion of their projects, providing art with a natural setting and offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an exceptional experience.

Reiners Contemporary Art will present a solo show titled “El hogar es un animal que a veces nos extraña,” by the Peruvian artist Aileen Gavonel. This project is a continuation of the artist’s past series “Espejismoss,” presented at ARCO Madrid in 2023. In this title, Gavonel plays with the double meaning of “nos extraña,” which can mean both “that misses us” and “that is strange to us.” While the center of the earth changes location and purpose, we continue to seek it in the constellation of our collection of mysteries. Those that account for times so distant they end up near, where we learned from other species, terrestrial inhabitants taught us to forge iron and cut stones, we conversed with the stars, our minds synchronized in a stealthy school to install possibilities on every shore, at every door. The future was a mirror where we reflected together; between your reflection and you, there was a door, an entrance for dolphins, mirages that expand over time.
