ESCOMBRO
Guadalajara
Focus Latam
Escombro is an autonomous space in the city of Guadalajara with variable headquarters directed and managed by artists working as a cooperative, with the intention of shaping projects by national and foreign artists and curators at different career levels to establish a dialogue between their practices and the local art scene as well as to disseminate the production of local creators in different cities inside and outside Mexico through exhibitions and art fairs; we were formerly the Caiman project.

At SWAB 2024, the contemporary art fair, works by Napoleón Aguilera, Ismael Sentíes and Raúl Rebolledo will be presented. Aguilera, known for his innovative use of materials and collaboration with artisans, approaches varied themes with humour and double entendre through detailed objects, actions and drawings. Sentíes explores the landscape from the tension between the abstract and the figurative, creating organic and diffuse atmospheres that investigate the perceptual and the imaginary. Rebolledo, for his part, unravels crises and agonies in contexts of catastrophism and social polarisation, questioning the structures of power with conceptual strategies. Together, they offer a critical and diverse vision of the contemporary world.
