Juan Antón’s landscape paintings immerse us in the diverse vegetation of northern Spain, showcasing breathtaking views of mountain ranges, lush green valleys, rivers, lakes, and the rich flora of the region. The exhibited works are fragments of a world that, despite modern advancements, has not lost its timeless beauty.

Juan Antón employs a specific visual language in his works to depict his surroundings. At first glance, it seems that the artist abandons a conventional visual logic in the composition to accurately represent key parts and details. However, it soon becomes clear that these landscapes are not closed spaces, allowing the artist to explore new compositions and perspectives. He confronts the challenge of achieving wholeness and unity in diversity, a task he resolves with his complex visual language. As spectators, we find ourselves in the midst of the artist’s dialogue about perspective and color. The use of color both perplexes and fascinates. At times, the colors correspond with hyperrealistic precision to a photograph of meadows or trees, while at other times they are used expressively to convey a mood or flood the landscape with atmospheric light.

The artist manages to paint topographical locations subjectively without losing their unique character. Although we are seemingly dealing with idealized cultural landscapes, what prevails is a loving tribute to nature’s primal essence.
