AllArtNow
Stockholm/Damascus
Seed Program
In 2005, Nisrine and Abir Boukhari founded AllArtNow, Syria’s first independent space for contemporary art. It introduced contemporary practices, providing learning, exhibitions, and residencies for local and international artists. Based in an abandoned Damascus house, AllArtNow expanded in 2011, opening two additional spaces. In 2012, it closed its Syrian doors, repurposing for refugee families and launched “AllArtNow on Move.” In 2019, they opened AllArtNowLab in Stockholm, exploring art relocation and cross-cultural dialogue. The space fosters local and international artist collaborations through residencies and curatorial projects, redefining art spaces’ role in creative exchange.

When conflict ravaged Syria, AllArtNow closed its space to provide shelter for Syrian families who had lost their homes to the devastation.
In the face of uncertainty, they realized a new path must be forged. For years, the space became nomadic, wandering through ideas and places, until AllArtNow made Stockholm the new base.
Since then, they have woven a network that bridges the Nordic and Mediterranean worlds, believing deeply that art offers a safe place for dialogue and understanding—a place where borders dissolve, and understanding blooms.
This exhibition brings together artists they have walked alongside for years, from various places, but art serves as the common ground that brings them together allowing them to meet and create in harmony.
